Beach Bits:
• Dodd has been ranked in the AVP's top 14 each season from 2001-2008, one of just two players to make that claim along with Elaine Youngs. • Dodd has advanced to semifinals with five different partners in her career, including three times in the Manhattan Beach Open.
2009: Began playing with Dianne DeNecochea, finishing in the top five in each of their first 11 events. Won the tournament in Brooklyn, becoming both the oldest team (men or women) to win a title as well as setting a modern day individual record for going the longest time between wins (9 years and 23 days). 2008: Advanced to four semifinals with Tati, including her first AVP championship match in Belmar. The duo finished as the fifth-ranked team on tour. Dodd was 10th in hitting percentage (.426). 2007: Partnered with Tatiana Minello, with a best of third in Glendale. Played one event with Nancy Mason due to an injury to Tati. 2006: Began playing with Barbra Fontana, and the duo took two fifths in 15 events on the AVP Tour. 2005: Partnered with three different players, and advanced to the semifinals once with each of them on the AVP Tour. In San Diego Mason took a third with Liz Masakayan in what was her final event. For the fourth straight season, she was ranked in the top 10 on the AVP Tour, as she was seventh. 2004: Played with Nancy Mason, advancing to the semifinals in eight of the 11 team events on the AVP Tour, and ended as the fourth-ranked team on tour. Dodd was seventh on the tour in hitting percentage (.413). In seven events on the FIVB Tour, the duo had a best of fourth place in Marseille despite losing in the second round, Dodd's highest FIVB finish. 2003: Logged three third-place finishes with McSorley on the AVP Tour, including in the Manhattan Beach Open for the second straight year. The pair finished as the fifth-ranked team on tour. Internationally the duo had three ninths on the FIVB Tour. 2002: Played exclusively with McSorley, and after a fifth-place finish in the first AVP event, made the semifinals in each of the next five tournaments. The duo ended the season as the third-ranked team on the tour, giving Dodd her first top-five finish in the individual rankings. On the FIVB Tour the pair played eight times, with three fifth-place finishes, including in a grand slam event in Klagenfurt. 2001: Partnered with Rachel Wacholder, getting a pair of fifths on the AVP Tour. On the BVA Tour she placed fifth with Lisa Arce. 2000: Again competed on three different tours, winning in Hermosa Beach with McSorley. Following that title, completed the season with three different partners in four events, with a third-place finish with Jennifer Meredith in their first event together. 1999: Busch played on three different tours as well as in the Pan American Games, placing fifth with Liz Pagano. Notched a career best with a fourth-place finish in Virginia Beach while playing with Leanne McSorley for the first time. 1997: Began her pro beach career with nine domestic events, with a best of ninth, playing with six different partners.
Hot Winter Nights: Played in three events in 2008, all in her home state of Wisconsin. She placed fourth and second before winning in LaCrosse. In 2009 she again played three times, winning in her final event in Cleveland.
College: Formerly Carrie Busch, she was an All-American at the University of Texas, where her older sister Nikki also played. Carrie was named MVP in helping Texas to second place at the NCAA finals. She graduated with a degree in sports administration.
Personal: Currently residing in El Segundo, California with her rescue dog Molly, she married Matt Dodd, brother of Beach Volleyball Olympic Medalist Mike Dodd, in March 2005. She is the girls volleyball coach at El Segundo High School.
