Adriana started playing Volleyball when she 13 for Flamengo after being a part of their figure skating team at 10. She played indoors for one season in Portugal and two seasons in Italy before returning to Brazil to start her Beach Volleyball career in 1992. After playing on the 1993 Circuito Banco do Brasil with Ana Richa, Adriana started competing on the SWATCH-FIVB World Tour with Magda Lima for 12 events (1993-1995) before beginning her partnership with Shelda Bede, who had recovered from an accident that almost made her quit the sport. Adriana and Shelda have won more gold medals and earned more money than any other team in SWATCH-FIVB World Tour history. Two-time SWATCH-FIVB World Champions (1999 Marseille and 2001 Klagenfurt), Adriana and Shelda have also claimed to Olympic silver medals (Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004). Six-time winners of the SWATCH-FIVB World Tour season points title (1997-2001, 2004), Adriana and Shelda have also played in more international events together than any other women's teams since the start of the circuit in 1992. Through the 2005 season, Adriana and Shelda have compiled a 516-102 SWATCH-FIVB World Tour match mark (83.5%) since forming their partnership at the end of the 1995 season. Overall, Adriana has a 574-136 record (80.8%) entering the 2006 season. She had a 50-29 record with Magda and won eight of 13 matches with her long-time partner's sister (Shaylyn) in 2005 when Shelda was sidelined with shoulder and back problems. Adriana and Shelda also captured the 1999 Pan-American gold medal in Winnipeg, Canada. On the Circuito Banco do Brasil, Adriana and Shelda have won the season points title eight times (1996-1997, 1999-2004). She has also been honored as the Circuito Banco do Brasil's top blocker (1998-200) and best attacker (1999). Adriana has a physical education degree, but has not practiced due to Beach Volleyball career. She is fluent in English and Italian.
