Beach Bits: • In September 2012 Day partnered with Summer Ross for the first time in the World University Games in Brazil and went undefeated in winning the title. In November 2012, the pair played together in a NORCECA event for the first time and the duo won. And in September 2013 they competed in their first AVP event as partners and went undefeated.
• Since her breakthrough win in September 2013, Day has had consecutive AVP events of not advancing to the semifinals just once (in early 2019).
2019: Day and Flint were the only team on the AVP Tour to play in all eight main draws. The pair won in Hermosa Beach, to go with two second and two third-place finishes. That victory meant that Day had won at least one AVP title for a fifth consecutive season. Day was ninth on the tour in kills (6.85 per set) and 10th in both blocks (0.93 per set) and hitting percentage (.445). Day and Flint won two silver medals, both in three-star events, on the FIVB Tour in their 11 tournaments together.
2018: Day partnered with Besti Flint, winning twice in five AVP tournaments. Day ended the year ranked eighth on the AVP Tour in blocks (1.04 per set) and ninth in hitting percentage (.448). On the FIVB Tour Day played three times with Brittany Hochevar with a best of ninth. She then played seven events with Flint, and got her first international win in a three-star event in China. Day also played one tournament with Lauren Fendrick, finishing 25th. 2017: Day and Hochevar played in six AVP tournaments, winning three of them, the only team to win multiple titles that year. Day was fourth in aces (.96 per set) and 10th in blocks (.60 per set) on the AVP. Day and Hochevar played seven times on the FIVB Tour, with a best of fifth. Day and Nicole Branagh competed once, in the World Championships, placing 17th. 2016: Day played four AVP events with three different partners, winning the Manhattan Beach Open with Brittany Hochevar. Day ranked sixth in aces per set (0.96). On the FIVB Tour Day played 13 tournaments, winning a bronze in the first one alongside Jennifer Kessy. Day and Kessy competed 11 times internationally. 2015: Day formed a partnership with Jennifer Kessy, and they advanced to the championship match in each of their two AVP events, winning once. On the year, they played in four semifinals in seven tournaments. Day was second on the Tour in kills per set (7.10) and was fourth in hitting percentage (.457). Day and Kessy played in 11 FIVB events, with a best of fifth. 2014: Day and Ross advanced to the semifinals in four of the seven AVP tournaments, with a best of second. Day ended the year ninth in hitting percentage (.418) and 10th in digs (4.40 per game). The duo played 10 FIVB events, with a best of fifth and finished the season as the second highest ranked team from the U.S. 2013: Day played the first AVP event of the year with Brooke Niles, placing ninth. She then teamed with Summer Ross for the first time on the AVP and the duo became the first ever team to go through the qualifier and win the event. They reached the championship match in each of their first three AVP events, with three different outcomes. They won, then placed second, then tied for second as the finals in St. Petersburg never occurred due to weather. They ended the season with two third-place finishes. On the FIVB Tour, Day played once with Hochevar and three times with Whitney Pavlik, with a best of 17th. She partnered with Summer Ross in seven FIVB tournaments, placing 17th in the World Championships in Poland and concluding the season with a silver medal in Phuket. 2012: Day and Hughes competed in four FIVB tournaments, then in the season finale in Thailand Day partnered with Brittany Hochevar and played in her first FIVB main draw, as the pair placed 13th. Day won two Norceca events, one with Hughes and one with Summer Ross. Domestically Day and Hughes finished 13th in their only AVP event, and won one other domestic tournament. 2011: Day and Hughes played in 10 domestic events on three tours, with a best of third on each tour. The duo also won the USA IDQ in Playa del Rey. Internationally the duo finished fourth in an FIVB Challenger as well as in the Pan American Games. They placed second in a Norceca event and competed in two FIVB events. 2010: Day played five AVP events with two partners, getting a best of 13th twice with D'Amore. Day and Hughes reunited to play in an AVP Young Guns event, winning in Hermosa Beach. 2009: Day played nine events with five different partners. After losing in the qualifier in her first tournament, Day was in the main draw in all the rest of the events. She had her best finish of 13th with Angela Bryan. She also played in two AVP Young Guns events, winning with Diane Pascua in Manhattan Beach. Day and Claire D'Amore represented the U.S. in the Norceca tournament in Jamaica, winning the title. The duo also won the USAV IDQ tournament in Long Beach. 2008: Day and Hughes played one qualifier together but did not advance to the main draw, 2007: Making her pro beach volleyball debut in Long Beach in July 2007 while still in college, Day and her partner Heather Hughes established an AVP record for the lowest-seeded team to advance from the qualifier (seeded 54th) as well as for the youngest team to do so (combined age just over 41 years).
College: Day was an outside hitter at Loyola Maryrmount University where she amassed over 1,500 kills and 1,000 digs (which has only been done twice in the history of LMU). She was named 1st Team All West Coast Conference in 2007 & 2008, honorable mention All-WCC in 2006, and 1st Team Freshman All-WCC in 2005. She was named to the WCC All-Academic Team in 2006, 2007, & 2008. Day earned WCC Player of the Week honors four times in her four year collegiate career. Indoors: Day played two years professionally indoors in Switzerland before deciding to train year round to become a top player on the AVP Tour.
Personal: In high school Day was a three-time all-league selection, including being named the Most Outstanding Player in 2004. Day graduated from LMU in 2009 with a degree in applied mathematics and a minor in business administration. Her hobbies include snowboarding and reading, and she played competitive soccer until graduating high school. She was married in November 2022.
