Dodd lettered four years in volleyball at UCLA (1981-85) and played on the school's 1984 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball championship team. Dodd was an All-American her junior and senior years at UCLA and made the NCAA All-Tournament teams as a sophomore and senior. Dodd played on the Major League Volleyball championship team (Los Angeles Starlites) in both 1987 and 1988. She and her husband (Mike) have two children. Her husband was a professional volleyball player and won the Silver Medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games with Mike Whitmarsh. She and her husband were the first married couple to win open professional titles on the same weekend in 1989 (four times). Combined with her husband’s winnings (Mike, $1,774,720 and 75 event titles), the Dodds have combined to win $1,965,852 on the beach with 89 tournament titles. She taught six years of bilingual kindergarten teacher in Lennox, CA. The Dodds own and operate a restaurant (Fonz) in Manhattan Beach, Calif.
