Steffes (Stef-S) won the Gold Medal with Karch Kiraly at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Steffes received his "AAA" rating while attending Palisades (Calif.) High School where he was named the 1986 National High School Player of the Year. After attending Stanford, Steffes transferred to UCLA. After red-shirting, he opted out of his scholarship to join the domestic pro beach tour full time in 1988. Steffes graduated in 1993 with a degree in Economics from UCLA. He appeared on an episode of "Baywatch" in 1995.
Olympics (one, gold, 5-0 Elimination, 5-0 Overall): • Qualified for Atlanta 1996 Olympics as the number three seed with Karch Kiraly. Won all five matches in bracket play, winning the gold medal, defeating United States' Mike Dodd/Mike Whitmarsh in the finals. |
