Ana Cristina Carmo Sarmento Vieira Pereira won six national Portuguse Beach Volleyball titles with Maria José Schuller. The pair also placed ninth in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and posted Portugal's only semi-final appearance for women at a FIVB World Tour event at a 2000 event in Dailian, China.
Cristina Pereira was a member of the Portuguese National Team captain and played on 11 national Volleyball championship teams as she was a member of three clubs Leixões SC, Castelo da Maia GC and Boavista FC. In 2000, the Portuguese Volleyball Federation honored Cristina Pereira with the highest distinction by presenting her with the “Osório” Award for her dedication to Volleyball. Her parents were also established Volleyball players. Cristina Pereira died October 29, 2009, at the age of 41 after a prolonged illness.
