Foschini started playing indoor volleyball in Italy at the time when Karch Kiraly was playing for Il Messaggero of Ravenna. He converted to beach volleyball when he moved to Santa Barbara to attend grad school at UCSB in 2011. He received both a Masters and PhD in Computer Science, earning a 4.0 GPA and a Dean's Fellowship in the process.
