College: Kan was a four-year starter as an outside hitter at Missouri. She became just the second Tiger to be selected as an All-American three times and the fifth to reach 1,000 kills and digs. Kan left the program ranking second all-time in kills (1,677), third in points (1,905) and fourth in digs (1,445). She then played two seasons of beach volleyball at Hawai'i. In her first year on the beach she had a 31-5 match record, setting the school record for most wins in a season (had been 20), and also won a school-record 14 consecutive matches. Kan ended her collegiate career by winning her last 13 dual matches, including 4-0 in the NCAA Championships, and her total of 62 dual match wins was the sixth most in program history.
Personal: Kan's father, Darryl, was a quarterback at Dartmouth and is an orthopedic consultant for Hawai'i Athletics. She has two older brothers, including Brett, who played quarterback at USC. Kan led her Punahou High School team to back-to-back state championships, and was the 2013 Gatorade Player of the Year in Hawai'i.
