Ilustre had played all of her events with Tanya Fuamatu-Anderson from 2001 through the middle of 2006, and the duo played in the fifth most domestic tournaments as a partnership. Ilustre finished the 2005 season ranked 10th in kill percentage (.532). In 2006 she ended with the 10th most aces (.65 per game).
She and Diane Pascua won a bronze medal in the Southeast Asia Games, held in December 2005 in the Philippines while representing the host country.
Ilustre played collegiately at Hawaii where she was a member of the All-Western Athletic Conference team in 1998. The next year she went to play professional volleyball indoors in Belgium, but returned before the season ended.
Ilustre, who is Filipino and Chinese, grew up in Southern California, and first played volleyball in the eighth grade. In high school she was a 1993 Junior Olympic gold medalist and a first-team All-American for Junior Olympics. Has an older brother and a younger sister, Hedder, who also played for UH and was on the All-WAC team.
