Collins graduated with a Communications degree from UCSB, but did not play volleyball in school. She was a competitive horse rider and soccer player before picking up volleyball at the age of 27 at East Beach in Santa Barbara. She has coached boys and girls volleyball in high school and club since 1998.
Collins grew up in Oahu, living on a boat most of the time, moving around the island. Her mother's side of the family is from Waimea on Kauai since the late 1800's. She is married to Greg Novak, a graphic illustrator and volleyball coach.
Greatest Accomplishment: Getting my indoor players to discover and love to play beach volleyball.
