College: DeTurk played four seasons of indoor volleyball at Northeastern. She was the sixth player in school history to reach 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career, and left ranked second all time in kills (1,330). She was the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year her senior season. DeTurk was also a javelin thrower.
Personal: Following graduation from Northeastern, DeTurk played professionally indoors in Switzerland, then became an assistant volleyball coach at her alma mater as well as UMass Lowell and University of Saint Katherine.
