Paul Laciga and his younger brother (Martin) played in the second most FIVB (117) and SWATCH stops (115) in history. The Lacigas teamed from 1995 through 2004 to place fifth in two Olympics (Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004) while competing together in four SWATCH-FIVB World Championships (1997, 1999, 2001 and 2003) and the 1998 Goodwill Games in New York. The Lacigas won six international gold medals (five SWATCH titles and a 1997 FIVB Challenge crown in the Czech Republic). Paul Laciga earned SWATCH-FIVB World Championship silver medals with Martin Laciga in 1997 at Marseille, France, and with Sascha Heyer in 2005 at Berlin. Sandwiched between bronze (1997 Italy) and silver medal finishes (2001 Italy, and 2002 Switzerland), the Lacigas captured three-straight European continental championships (1998 Greece, 1999 Mallorca and 2000 Spain).
Paul Laciga studied engineering, economics and computer science in college. The son of Paul and Judith Laciga, he and his wife Corinne have no children.
Most memorable moment on the SWATCH-FIVB World Tour - His first SWATCH gold medal in 1998 at Mar del Plata, Argentina.

Olympics (two, 5th, 5th, 2-1 Pool, 3-2 Elimination, 5-3 Overall): • Qualified for Sydney 2000 Olympics as the number four seed with Martin Laciga. Lost in the third round of bracket play to Portugal's Joao Brenha/Miguel Maia, finishing 5th. • Qualified for Athens 2004 Olympics as the number three seed with Martin Laciga. After finishing pool play with a 2-1 record, lost in the fourth round of bracket play to Brazil's Emanuel Rego/Ricardo Santos, finishing 5th. |
