College: Lloyd played four years indoors at Cal as a setter. As a freshman she tallied 1,550 assists, which was the second most in program history. In her sophomore season she ranked third in the nation in assists (12.00 per set). Following her junior season Lloyd had already registered the second most assists in Cal's history. As a senior Lloyd was chosen as the AVCA National Player of the Year as Cal was the runner-up in the National Championship. Her career total of 5,697 assists was second most in school history and sixth most in PAC-10 Conference history. She finished with 398 blocks, which ranked fifth all time in program history, and her assist totals in all four seasons all ranked in the top nine for single records at Cal.

Personal: Lloyd's mother, Cindy, is a high school volleyball coach, and Lloyd began playing volleyball in sixth grade. Her uncle, Galen Tomlinson, coached her in volleyball as well as track and field. He was Turbo on American Gladiator. Her grandfather, Doug Tomlinson, was an MLB player for the Cleveland Indians. In high school Lloyd was a PrepVolleyball.com Fab 50 selection all four years, and she was the 1998 Long Jump National Champion.
