College: Chavez played beach volleyball at Mercer. She was 1-1 in exhibition matches as a sophomore, then was 4-2 in exhibition matches as a junior and 0-2 with Sophie Peel in nonconference play. As a senior Chavez went 11-11, splitting time on courts four and five while playing primarily with Lela McIntosh.
Personal: Chavez has four siblings, with two sisters and two brothers. In high school in Guatemala she competed in both volleyball and rowing, and graduated Summa Cum Laude.
