Gisbrecht excelled in two sports at Ohio Wesleyan, volleyball and track and field. She was a three-time all-conference volleyball player, and her senior season was chosen as the league's Player of the Year. She helped her team post its first-ever undefeated conference record as well its first conference championship title. As a senior Gisbrecht led the league in kills per game.
In track and field, Gisbrecht placed in the conference championships in eight different events (shot put, javelin, discus, long jump, 55m-hurdles, triple jump, high jump and 100m-hurdles). She won the conference championship in shot put all four years both indoors and outdoors, earning her All-American honors. In 2005 she was inducted into the college's Athletic Hall of Fame.
