Schroeder played one year of collegiate volleyball at UCSB before transferring to PSI, where she earned an associate degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant. In high school, she was the first freshman ever to make the varsity team at Marymount High School. She was also MVP and first-team All-American at Palisades High School her junior and senior years. Her cousin, Terri Schroeder, was a four-time Olympian in water polo and her grandfather, Patrick McGoohan, is a famous actor in England, playing the role of King in the movie 'Braveheart'.
