Bio Bits

After a rebound from an ACL surgery during her junior year (1997), Binder came back to have the best two seasons of her collegiate career. She amassed over 1,800 kills and is second in the Pacific career record book. With 46 kills on December 4, 1999 she set a Tigers and NCAA Tournament record for most kills during a single match.

Binder is the first women's volleyball player in the Big West conference to earn four consecutive Player of the Week awards. She was named first team AVCA All America (1998 and 1999), All-Big West (1996, 1997, and 1999), AVCA All-District VII (1996, 1997, and 1999) and NCAA Tournament All-Central Region. She was named NCAA Tournament East Region Most Outstanding Player and Big West Conference Co-Player of the Year. She was recognized as MVP for the Shamrock Invitational Tournament and State Farm Women's Volleyball Classic Tournament.

Following college Binder played briefly indoors in Spain as well as with the USPV in Chicago. She earned her teaching certificate from Sonoma State, and since 2000 has been a high school social studies teacher and volleyball coach.

Formerly Elsa Stegeman, she is married (Todd Binder) and has a daughter (Dakota), who was born in 2004.
